Celebrating the 10th UllrGrass Music and Beer Festival in Golden, Colorado

Skål, Vikings!  We are only a couple of weeks away from one of the most iconic Colorado Winter music festivals.  The 10th UllrGrass promises to bring an incredible lineup of musicians, an amazing beer-tasting event, and a day geared towards fun for the whole family.  We’ve gathered all of the details here so that you can make the most of the 2024 UllrGrass.   So, let’s jump right in.

What To Expect:  3-Days of UllrGrass

The 2024 UllrGrass will take place January 26 – 28, 2024 at Parfet Park in Golden, Colorado.

The festival kicks off on Friday at 4:00 pm.  All Friday music will be held in the heated tents, starting with the Fireside Pickers kicking off the festival.   You’ll want to stick around to see the entire lineup of incredible musicians, featuring a Very Jerry UllrJam, Coral Creek String Band with Todd Sheaffer (of Railroad Earth), Allie Kral and Kyle Tuttle, Hunker Down, and more.  If you’re looking to extend the evening, grab your instrument and head over the American Legion for some late-night pickin’.

The Beer Festival will take place on Saturday with unlimited beer samples from 35 Craft Breweries from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm.  Saturday’s music kicks off at 11:00 am on the Main Stage and will alternate all day between the two stages and campfire picks.  Saturday’s lineup features Bill Nershi (of String Cheese Incident) and Todd Sheaffer with the UllrGrass All-Stars, The Magic Beans, Coral Creek with Allie Kral and Kyle Tuttle, Pick & Howl, Opal Agafia, Nordic Daughter, Foggy Memory Boys, and Ghost Town Drifters.

Bring the whole family on Sunday!  There will be plenty of kid’s activities, like the annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Plus, fun for adults like the annual Bluegrass and Bloody Mary Happy Hour.  Tickets are only $10 and music will feature Erinn Peet Luke’s Gospel Set, Adam Kinghorn Bluegrass Band, and Super Magick.

The 2024 UllrGrass Lineup and Schedule

The 10th UllrGrass Music Festival will feature a variety of local and national musicians – bluegrass and beyond!   Enjoy dancing outside with the incredible musicians playing on the Main Stage, and then transition to the heated tent with the Saloon Stage as the evening cools.   The Campfire Picks are sure to bring an extra level of fun – and heat –  as we all boogie down around the firepit in between the stage acts.

UllrGrass Proceeds Support Music Education for Children

UllrGrass is a volunteer-powered non-profit event with proceeds benefitting the Kids Music Project by Coral Creek which delivers music education and performance to kids in Colorado.

From UllrGrass’ website:  “Our mission is to provide access to music education and performance to all kids in Colorado.  We provide a variety of programs to schools including live performance events, song-writing workshops, and instrument petting zoos as well as a full-year Kindergarten music teaching guide and rhythm kit.”

Summon the Spirit of Ullr

UllrGrass Music and Beer Festival celebrates Ullr, the Norse God of Winter.  Attendeees are encouraged to dress in lots of layers to brave the winter temperatures, but also to bundle up in their furry Viking gear!  There’s even a costume contest on Saturday, so people tend to bring their Viking helmets, drinking horns, leather chest plates and lots of FUR!

UllrGrass was created by Susannah and Chris Thompson who saw a need to create a winter music festival in their home of Golden, CO.  The winter elements will not stop this community from enjoying this iconic beer and music festival!  So, bundle up – and bring your best attitude – because it’s always a beautiful weekend to celebrate Winter in Parfet Park.

SKåL:  Eat, Drink and Dance!

Ticket holders will be given wristbands so that they can come and go as they please during UllrGrass festivities.  But no need – as there is plenty provided within the festival grounds at Parfet Park.

There are always a variety of food trucks serving plenty of hot food and beverages that will please any palate.  Breckenridge Brewery is the official beer sponsor for the weekend, but patrons can also enjoy the festival’s full bar serving beer, cocktails, and sodas.   Free water stations will also be on-site at the festival, so bring a reusable water bottle (or purchase a reusable cup for $1).

There are a variety of ticket options, so you can choose how you would like to spend your weekend at UllrGrass Festival.

For those who want to go all-in, grab a limited 3-Day VIP Ticket which includes all three days of music (day and evening), entrance to the beer festival, plus access to the heated VIP lounge where you’ll have catered meals and an open bar.   Be sure to note that tickets to the beer festival are sold separately from most of the festival tickets, so you’ll need to purchase the Weekend Pass, a full Saturday Pass, or a daytime Saturday pass – all with the Beer Festival.  (For the non-beer lovers, there are plenty of options for you, too!).

No matter which day you attend, there will be plenty of music, dancing, food, drinks and FUN for all to have!
