UllrGrass 2018: Appeasing the God of Winter
UllrGrass 2018: UllrGrass Music and Beer Festival in Golden, Colorado
Winter is coming.
Expect snow. Lots of it.
This past weekend the snow gods were called upon in Golden, Colorado for the 4th Annual Ullrgrass Music and Beer Festival. Though it seems like it’s taking its sweet time this year, winter and the snow must be coming, as Ullr was surely appeased by the music and beer offerings!
UllrGrass Music and Beer Festival is the perfect way to kick off the new year by celebrating the Norse God of Winter, all while drinking brews and dancing next to the snow-covered foothills.
During this 3-day music and beer festival, attendees enjoy non-stop music from over 20 bands playing on two side-by-side stages. Beer tents and food trucks are spread throughout the park, providing a variety of amazing libations sure to please any palate.
The festival rolls over to New Terrain Brewery in the evening, where the dance party continues with even more live acts and of course – more delicious, local craft beer.
SKOL!
We headed down to Golden, Colorado on Saturday afternoon for UllrGrass’ Annual Beer Festival.
Featuring beer and cider from over 30 different establishment, we were handed a souvenir glass that would be filled with our choice of tasters from 1:00 – 4:00pm.
Parfet Park was filled with furry festival attendees dressed like Vikings enjoying the variety of brewed beverages. From a Coconut Porter to a Pineapple IPA, the bottomless glass of tastings certainly kept us warm on a cool, Saturday afternoon in January.
Bring the Kids!
Created by a community of family and musicians, UllrGrass is truly a family affair. Susannah and Chris Thompson have poured their hearts and souls into creating a unique music festival that supports the local community of their hometown, Golden, CO. From the annual egg-hunt to the costume parade, kids of all ages enjoy being a part of this Viking-themed festival.
Additionally, UllrGrass is a non-profit festival run by a friendly team of hard-working volunteers. All profits go towards supporting the Kids Music Project, created by Chris’ band, Coral Creek. Kids Music Project works to provide access to music education and performance to all kids in Colorado.
