New Orleans Jazz Fest 2022 Lineup: Billy Strings At the Top of the List
The 2022 Lineup for New Orleans Jazz Fest Puts Billy Strings in the List of Top Acts
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival will take place April 29 – May 8, 2022. The spectacular lineup was just announced and includes headliners The Who, Stevie Nicks, Foo Fighters, Willie Nelson, and Jimmy Buffett.
In fact, there are literally hundreds of bands that will be playing throughout the city during this much-anticipated return of the legendary Jazz Fest music and arts festival.
The festival is so huge that it spans over two weekends – April 29 – May 1 and May 5 – 8. Attendees can expect to see local acts, as well as international sensations, modern pop stars, cult favorites, and everything in between.
Jazz Fest is known for essentially hosting the whos-who of musicians and bands.
Festival attendees can drop $2000 for a 4-day pass with parking, so it’s pretty clear that Jazz Fest is not your run-of-the-mill festival.
This New Orleans music festival has been around for over 50 years, and each year seems to showcase the best in class in the world of music. The well-known bands that have been around for decades lineup next to the top-in-class for the current year.
Billy Strings Makes Moves on JazzFest Lineup
Bluegrass and jambands aren’t typically the focus for the New Orleans Jazz Fest. Although, that’s not to say there haven’t been some genre favorites gracing the NOLA Jazz Fest stages over the years.
String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, Phish, and Trey Anastasio Band are just a few notable acts that have rocked the Jazz Fest stage over the past decade.
Dead and Co were to play at the rescheduled Jazz Fest in October 2021. The headliners for that festival closely resembled the 2022 lineup announcement, including Foo Fighters, Stevie Nicks, and Norah Jones.
The one big difference that stands out to the bluegrass, newgrass, jamband fans on the 2022 Jazz Fest Lineup is that Billy Strings has his name nicely tucked in on the second row of the poster, right between Ludacris and Nelly.
Moving On Up….
It’s clear that Billy Strings is quickly on his way to being a household name – and his band deserves just as much credit as the man himself.
Just this past Summer, Billy and his incredible band threw a music festival in Buena Vista, CO to promote their new album, Revival. A festival for an album release!
The new album was also seen on a gigantic light-up sign in Times Square, New York. Bluegrass in NYC?!?
It seems everywhere you turn you see a Billy Strings t-shirt or hear the band playing over the speakers.
So, the Jazz Fest announcement comes as absolutely no surprise. Frankly, the surprise might be that his name was AFTER Ludacris. But, let’s not get too picky.
