We raved about the Inaugural 2023 Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival, saying that the first-year fest in Annapolis “felt like home.”

Along with all of the attendees of Baygrass ’23, we were blown away by the music, culture and adventure of this new fest, and what they managed to achieve in year one.  Baygrass managed to pull off a near-flawless festival, and made it seem like they had been doing this for years.

So you can see why we’ve been anxiously awaiting the Baygrass follow up to ’23.  How do you follow that?

The answer – by going even BIGGER AND BETTER for 2024!

The 2024 Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival Lineup kicks off with Oteil & Friends, featuring Oteil Burbirdge, Melvin Seals, Steve Kimock, Jason Crosby, Johnny Kimock, Tom Guarna, Lamar Williams Jr.

Not enough grass for you?  How about The Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon, Sam Bush, Kitchen Dwellers, Sierra Hull and The Lil Smokies?!  This crew has the bluegrass, jamgrass and funkgrass covered, as well as the galaxy grass and the polyethnic cajun slamgrass!

Things get cosmic and funky with one of the hottest up-and-coming acts, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, and the epic all-star Allman Brothers celebration, Trouble No More.

Baltimore favorite Cris Jacobs will certainly have some tricks up his sleeve for a Cris Jacobs & Friends set that has us keeping a watchful eye out for a further announcement.  👀

The Dirty Grass Players make their return to Baygrass after impressing everyone in ’23, and the same can be said of the Official Baygrass House-band, Geraldine, who we hope to see as a fixture on all future Baygrass lineups.

Big Richard makes the trek from Colorado – and, coming from CO ourselves, we can tell the East Coast to watch out and get ready for this amazing group of women with big-richard energy.  Brown Eyed Women will keep up the Baygrass tradition of celebrating the music of the Grateful Dead, with their own unique spin.

In 2023, Baygrass brought in Lindsay Lou as the first Baygrass artist-at-large.  She was perfect for the roll, and will forever be remembered as the Queen of Baygrass.

How do you top that?  You simply don’t, but the 2024 Baygrass artists-at-large are going to tear the proverbial roof off the beaches of Sandy Point State Park.  We get not one, not two, but three of the most amazing brass/woodwind musicians in the world – Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman, and Ron Holloway.  The Baygrass Horn Section will be amazing!

Along with this stellar lineup, Baygrass will still be announcing artist workshops, and we can tell you the secret – some of these are actually extra special sets of music in disguise (like last year’s epic Gillian Welch tribute with Mimi Naja and most of Fruition!).

All Baygrassers experience an elevated culinary experience, including Maryland crab cakes, roasted and raw oysters, gourmet BBQ, wood-fired pizzas, and other delicious vegan and vegetarian delicacies. Tasty beverage selections include microbrews, craft cocktails and wines, mocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. Yoga, music and educational workshops, beach and yard games, kids activities, local craft vendors, and more will all be available at the festival.

VIP Baygrassers enjoy all of this, as well as daily hot meals and a ton of other perks that really make this a one-of-a-kind festival.

All of this, on a beautiful beach on the shores of the Chesapeake, overlooking the iconic Bay Bridge.

“The Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival was born out of our team’s love of progressive bluegrass music, the desire to generate a fun community-oriented vibe, and a passion for protecting the Chesapeake Bay,” says festival co-founder and CEO Ron Peremel. “The Baygrass philosophy is to help people learn about conservation, sustainability, and mental health – in a way that combines education with fun. As we like to say: ‘Every Jam Saves the Bay’ & ‘Every Jam Helps a Mind'”!

More than a music festival, Annapolis Baygrass maintains its mission to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay. As part of this mission a portion of all proceeds from tickets, food, beverage, and merchandise sales will go to Maryland-based non-profit organizations including Watershed Stewards Academy, Oyster Recovery Partnership, and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.

Annapolis Baygrass has also partnered with organizations that bring awareness and support to the importance of our mental health, led by The VA Way, under the direction of festival co-founder John Way—an Army Veteran, mental health advocate, Narcan trainer, and certified mental health first aid instructor.

An amazing lineup, an unparalleled beachfront location, elevated food and drink options in an environmentally-conscious environment with a mission to protect the bay and support mental health in the community – THIS IS WHY WE BAYGRASS!
