BajaWonderGrass returns for the fourth year to El Sargento, Baja California Sur, Mexico on April 22 – 25, 2026.

We’re counting down the days until we return for our 3rd time to BajaGrass for our annual gathering at the beautiful La Ventana Bay.  This festival blends desert magic with coastal vibes.  This isn’t a Mexican resort festival – this is a chance for the adventurous souls to immerse themselves in the local culture, connect with your favorite musicians, and spend quality time hanging with your fest friends.

Your Guide to BajaWonderGrass 2026: Everything You Need For The Best Weekend

Location:

BajaWonderGrass 2026 will once again be held at La Tuna BCS.  This boutique beachside bar and restaurant is in El Sargento, about 45 minutes south of La Paz.

Explore both El Sargento and La Ventana, small towns nestled directly next to each other on the Bahia de la Ventana.  The festival takes place in El Sargento, further north on the bay.  The vibe is a bit more local, with more privately owned rental units.  There’s a bit more wind on the north end, so it’s better known for kitesurfing.  La Ventana is absolutely worth checking out, especially if you’re looking for more of a resort or hotel for your weekend stay. The winds are calmer, so the beaches are a little more relaxing.

ProTip: For a hot soak after a night of dancing, be sure to visit Playa Agua Caliente. 

Packing Tips

You’ll be hanging out in a desert on the coast.  So, prepare for hot days and cooler nights.  The festival starts right on the beach, so you can expect some cooler breezes while dancing near the ocean.

Pack light layers for when the sunsets.

Bring a towel or yoga mat – Free yoga with your wristband at Baja Joe’s.

Bring pesos –  ask your bank (they usually 48 to 72 hours to order them, so plan ahead).  Or stop at an ATM on your way from the airport (but be careful of fees!)

Don’t forget your water bottle!  They’ll have refill stations at the festival.  Stop at the tienda to grab gallons of water to refill, if your lodging doesn’t provide filtered water.

The Music

Get ready for an intimate festival experience: 4 days of music and community with a few hundred festival attendees.

Tickets required, limited availability.  $25 | $30 at the door

Food & drink for purchase. Enjoy wood-fired pizza, tacos, ceviche, custom cocktails and cold beer.

🌵April 23 – 25: BajaWonderGrass Festival | La Tuna | Doors at 3PM, Music 4 PM – 11:00 PM

3 nights of music at this beautiful beachfront venue.   There are 3 stages this year, so be sure to check out the pop-up stage!  (NOTE: Please check the BajaWonderGrass Shuttle schedule (below).  There will be no parking on the beach!)

Here are a few options to get from the airport to El Sargento.

Airport: 

You can fly into La Paz, but flights are more expensive and less frequent.  So, you’ll probably want to fly into Cabo San Lucas airport.

Car Rental: 

We recommend Cactus Car Rentals or Seahorse Car Rental.  Both companies include the required insurance in their final price.  (Other companies may not disclose this, and you may be charged extra when you pick up your rental)

Cactus Cars offers pickup and drop-off services to and from the airport.  Seahorse will leave your car in a lot, so you can pick it up right at the airport.  Both have great customer service and great rates.

I can personally recommend Eric Zhevel’s company, www.seahorsecarrental.com.  He’s an American guy turned La Paz local and runs a very casual-feeling yet professional company with no rip-you-off sneaky vibes. Great communicator, good fleet, good prices. We’ve used him for a lot of visiting friends and family. 

Getting Around Town

There is no public transportation in town, and most things are not within walking distance.   Consider renting a car or a bike.

Festival Shuttle – $25

Unlimited round-trip rides over three days between Baja Joe’s and La Tuna, so you can focus on the music and good times.

HIKE OR BIKE the Cardon Cacti Forest:

Explore the largest Cacti forest in the world. The Cardon Cacti is native to northwestern Mexico, including the Baja Peninsula. Walk through the “forest” of huge plants (some grow up to 60 feet tall, and weigh up to 25 tons).

Check out the trails! Head to Ventusbay Hotel, tucked away inside the forested area. There are a network of sandy tracks around the forest, which can be used for hiking, mountain biking, or driving.  Use the Trail Forks app to explore the many mountain biking and hiking trails in the area.

BajaSUP :  We had a great time with Terri and Sergio on their kayak and snorkeling trip!  Their 3 hour trip in “The Aquarium of the World” includes your guides, all necessary equipment, water, and a homemade snack, plus complimentary photos.

SURFING

Cerritos Beach is a fun surf town only two hours from La Ventana.  With rentals and surf schools. this is a great place to learn.  The town has great food and drinks, plus a fun weekend vibe.

BAJA PET RESCUE

This incredible organization helps find stray pets a new home. They adopt dogs to people all over Western Canada and the US, as well as the Baja Peninsula in Mexico.  They also host spay/neuter campaigns twice a month. You can help!  Adopt, donate, or volunteer at www.bajapetrescue.com.
