BajaWonderGrass returns for the third year to El Sargento, Baja California Sur, Mexico on April 23 – 26, 2025.

We’re excited to return to this quiet coastal town for an intimate musical community gathering.  For those lucky adventurers who will join us, get ready for the magic of the desert to sweep your heart away.  Plan to immerse yourself in the local culture, and enjoy all that this town has to offer.

Your Guide to BajaWonderGrass 2025: Be Prepared for Your Festival Experience

Location:

BajaWonderGrass 2025 will be held at La Tuna BCS.  This boutique beachside bar and restaurant is in El Sargento, about 45 minutes south of La Paz.

El Sargento & La Ventana neighbor each other so closely that it feels like one extended community with similar vibes and culture. Visitors flock here for kite surfing, mountain biking, snorkeling, and fishing.  Plan an adventure with a local organization – you won’t be disappointed.

ProTip: Don’t miss out on soaking in the hot springs on the edge of the ocean!

Packing Tips

We’re looking at gorgeous weather, festival friends.  Be prepared for hot days and cooler nights.  The festival starts right on the beach, so you can expect some cooler breezes while dancing near the ocean.

Pack light layers for when the sunsets.

Bring a towel or yoga mat for the FREE beach yoga.

Bring pesos – you can ask your bank (they usually need a week to order them, so plan ahead).  Or stop at an ATM on your way from the airport.

Don’t forget your water bottle!  They’ll have refill stations at the festival.  Stop at the tienda to grab gallons of water to refill, if your lodging doesn’t provide filtered water.

The Music

Get ready for 4 days of music and community with a few hundred festival attendees.

April 23:  Welcome Gathering | Pólvora |  5PM – 10PM

Tickets required, limited availability.  $25 | $30 at the door

Food & drink for purchase. Enjoy pop up food stalls with oysters, wood fired pizza, ceviche, tacos and more.

April 24 – 26: BajaWonderGrass Festival | La Tuna | Doors at 3PM, Music 4 PM – 9:30 PM

3 nights of music at this beautiful beachfront venue.   There are 3 stages this year, so be sure to check out the pop-up stage!

Here are a few options to get from the airport to El Sargento.

Airport: 

You can fly into La Paz, but flights are more expensive and less frequent.  So, you’ll probably want to fly into Cabo San Lucas airport.

We recommend contacting Cactus Car Rentals.  We had a great customer experience booking through them in 2023, and their final price include the required insurance. (Other companies may not disclose this, and you may be charged extra when you pick up your rental)

I can personally recommend Eric Zhevel’s company, www.seahorsecarrental.com.  He’s an American guy turned La Paz local and runs a very casual feeling yet professional company with no rip-you-off sneaky vibes. Great communicator, good fleet, good prices. We’ve used him for a lot of visiting friends and family. 

Getting Around Town

There is no public transportation in town, and most things are not within walking distance.   Consider renting a car or a bike.

Get to and from the festival with several pick-up spots throughout town.

HIKE OR BIKE the Cardon Cacti Forest:

Explore the largest Cacti forest in the world. The Cardon Cacti is native to northwestern Mexico, including the Baja Peninsula. Walk through the “forest” of huge plants (some grow up to 60 feet tall, and weigh up to 25 tons).

Check out the trails! Head to Ventusbay Hotel, tucked away inside the forested area. There are a network of sandy tracks around the forest, which can be used for hiking, mountain biking, or driving.  Use the Trail Forks app to explore the many mountain biking and hiking trails in the area.

Cerritos Beach is a fun surf town only two hours from La Ventana.  With rentals and surf schools. this is a great place to learn.  The town has great food and drinks, plus a fun weekend vibe.
