Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2019: First Round of Lineup Announced

The 19th Annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Announced Initial Lineup

The 19th Annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass will take place October 4 – 6, 2019 at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.  The festival, which brings hundreds of thousands of music lovers to California each year,  has just released their initial lineup.
 
Initial headliners include The Milk Carton Kids, the unique collaboration of Calexico and Iron & Wine, Ukraine’s heralded folk-music group Dakhabrakha, Texas troubadour Hayes Carll, Bay Area golden boy Jackie Greene, cowpunk heroes Meat Puppets, powerhouse soul spirit Bettye LaVette, country-music renaissance woman Margo Price, songwriting legend Steve Earle, and British-Irish folk-rockers The Waterboys.
 
“To me, this lineup reflects our event’s legacy while looking ahead to the future,” says Hardly Strictly’s talent buyer Chris Porter. “Steve Earle has been celebrating with us since 2002 and artists like Margo Price and Dahkabrahka are making their first Hardly Strictly Bluegrass appearances.”
 

Hardly Strictly Shares Out of the Park Schedule

To build up to this initial announcement, Hardly Strictly has been promoting their “artist medley” on their social media sites, essentially a sneak-peak audio clip of soon to be announced artists. 
 
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass was founded by Warren Hellman, who just celebrated his 85th birthday.  In 2001, Hellman created the festival to provide a way to celebrate American roots musics, and presented it as a gift to the people of San Franciso and the world. 
 
Festival fans can loo forward to the Hardly Strictly Out of the Park music series.  $1.00 of each ticket sold to these evening shows at local venues will go to Music in the Schools Today.  Artists include Jackie Greene, Meat Puppets, Hayes Carll, Calexico and Iron & Wine, and The Waterboys.
