WinterWonderGrass Announces 2023 Lineup for Lake Tahoe, CA
WinterWonderGrass Celebrates the 7th Annual Gathering in Lake Tahoe, California
March 31-April 2, 2023 | Palisades Tahoe, Lake Tahoe, California
WinterWondergrass Tahoe is a bucket-list festival.
While we revel in the elements in Colorado at WinterWonderGrass Steamboat, and take pride in our ability to dance in the snow, face down a blizzard and not miss a single set of music in the process, we also look longingly at the images that emerge each year from California’s version of the winter music festival.
Still in the winter, and still on a ski slope, the West-coast festival often arrives with slightly warmer temps than its Colorado counterpart. Visions of attendees dancing in t-shirts and skiing in bikinis often haunt us in Colorado!
But, it’s all part of the experience, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
With the announcement of this incredible lineup for WinterWonderGrass Tahoe, we find ourselves exploring all the possibilities and thinking… why go to just one WinterWonderGrass Festival when we can go to 2?!!

WinterWonderGrass Celebrates the 7th Annual Gathering in Lake Tahoe, California
March 31-April 2, 2023 | Palisades Tahoe, Lake Tahoe, California
Bursting with hope, inspiration, and gratitude, WinterWonderGrass Festival announces its 2023 lineup at Palisades Tahoe in Lake Tahoe, California, March 31-April 2, 2023. GA, VIP, Ski/Ride, Tram to Table passes and Lodging on sale now at WinterWonderGrass.com.
Originating in Colorado in 2013, WinterWonderGrass found its second home in California 2 years later. This critically acclaimed, boutique music festival brings together some of the best in bluegrass and Americana. Set over a period of 3 days, attendees will experience a spectacular mountain backdrop, a welcoming community, sustainable awareness, a lively kids zone, carefully curated local food vendors, spirits, and world-class craft beer & seltzer (with complimentary tastings).
Mark your calendars (and prep your lift tickets) for the free Thursday Kickoff Show in The Village at Palisades Tahoe, followed by a weekend of music, brews, and mountains with bluegrass and Americana favorites. Inside the venue, you will find an open-air outdoor mainstage, three side stages (tented and heated), plus daily beer, whiskey, and spiked seltzer complimentary tastings for those 21 and over, from 3-5 pm.
The lineup will satisfy all audiences with 25 bands across 4 stages, including WinterWonderGrass veterans, Trampled by Turtles and Greensky Bluegrass, plus newcomers Marcus King, The Main Squeeze, and The Lone Bellow. The weekend rounds out with Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Mapache, Neal Francis, Tray Wellington Band, Big Richard, AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Lindsay Lou, Pixie and the Partygrass Boys, Cris Jacobs Band, the Brothers Comatose, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Pickin’ on the Dead and others.
WinterWonderGrass is a family friendly event and children 12 and under are free.
The seeds of WinterWonderGrass were planted back in the 90’s, as founder Scotty Stoughton followed the band, The Grateful Dead on the West and East Coasts. His “Dead-Head” experience as a fan, hand drummer and grilled cheese salesmen combined with years in Colorado as an event producer and performer gave him the inspiration and vision to launch an event focused on community.
Stoughton notes: “The intention behind WinterWonderGrass and all our Bonfire Entertainment events is to hold space for a mindful, clean and comforting fan experience. First and foremost, we create this for the people, the communities, and our artists. WWG is itself a community; our attendees share our passion for protecting the environment, tasty craft brew, authentic music, and collective kindness.”
The first annual WinterWonderGrass kicked off at The Crazy Mountain Brewery, Edwards Colorado in 2013. After 2 years of sold out festivals, and incredible response from the Colorado community, Stoughton made a trip to the majestic High Sierras with an intent to expand the bluegrass family. Standing on a worn out parking lot below the world famous Tahoe Tram, he declared the new WinterWonderGrass location. Many fans now take part in both WWG events, first Steamboat, Colorado and then Lake Tahoe, California just one month later.
