Halloween Music Festivals in 2017
If you’re like us, you absolutely LOVE costume theme-night at a music festival. It’s so much fun to see the entire music festival transformed into superheroes, disco dancers, space aliens – or whatever theme it happens to be that night!
With Halloween upon us, we can’t imagine a better place to spend the spooky weekend than at a music festival where you can wear as many costumes as you want – all weekend long!
Here are 3 Halloween Music Festivals worth checking out in 2017:
Suwannee Hulaween
When: October 27 – 29
Where: Live Oak, FL (The Spirit of Suwannee Music Park)
Who: The String Cheese Incident (3 nights), Bassnectar, Ween, Griz
Why: Suwannee Hulaween will be as much of a visual experience as a music experience. The music festival creators focus on transforming the Suwannee Music Park through art installations and performances. Hulaween incorporates extracurricular activities that focus on your entire self – mind, body, and spirit. Look for dance, yoga and meditation classes throughout the weekend.
Perhaps the coolest part about Suwannee Hulaween is the way they transform Spirit Lake. See for yourself!
Hangtown Music Festival
When: October 26th – 29th, 2017
Where: Placerville, CA
Who: Railroad Earth, Greensky Bluegrass, Leftover Salmon, Fruition, Turkuaz, Dark Star Orchestra, Chris Robinson Brotherhood – and so much more!
Why: This annual event is a tradition for many fans of bluegrass and Halloween. They have established themselves as the ultimate in costume-theme festivals over the years, so be sure to pack accordingly! Here are the themes for this year:
Thursday: When in Rome ~ We’re GLADiator you decided toga to Hangtown. Join us in The Colosseum (aka Hangin’ Hall) Thursday night when we kick things off with a nod to the Ancient Roman Empire.
Friday: Nothing Shaking on Hangtown Street ~ The Grateful Dead wrote nearly 200 original songs and covered over 300…dig deep into the lyrics and come truckin’ in style along the avenue!
Saturday: The Hangtown Halloween Ball ~ Witches, warlocks, vampires, mummies…celebrate the season at the traditional Halloween Ball at Hangtown!
Sunday: Story Book Classics Come to Life ~ So, where ARE the Wild Things? Are You My Mother? What is that rabbit so late for? DO you like Green Eggs and Ham? Be “terrific” like Wilbur and come as your favorite story book character!
Voodoo Music and Arts Experience
When: October 27 – 29, 2017
Where: New Orleans, LA
Who: Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters, LCD Soundsystem, The Killers, Head and the Heart, and much more!
Why: New Orleans is basically the capital of musical flare, so expect to be impressed with the costumes all weekend. This festival promises a well-rounded NOLA experience for the attendees – a “musical gumbo”. Come for the music, but be enticed by the variety of food, drinks, art, and community. Spending Halloween weekend in New Orleans is sure to be a haunting adventure.
While we weren’t able to find any specific themes for costumes, there’s no doubt that the festival will be dressed to impress. Also, be sure to check out their Dia De Los Muertos featuring live art installations and blacklight tunnels for an interactive Halloween experience.
