Great Blue Heron Festival Presents: BoomBox! Labor Day Weekend in Sherman, NY
Great Blue Heron Festival Announces Labor Day Weekend Event with BoomBox
BoomBox will play at The Heron Farm & Event Center, home of the Great Blue Heron Music Festival, on September 3, 2023.
The Great Blue Heron Music Festival celebrated 30 years this past July 4th weekend with another magical gathering on The Heron Farm in Sherman, NY. The 30th-anniversary festival boasted over 30 bands on 3 stages, over 3 days (or longer if folks wanted an extended camping experience!).
After 30 years of festivals on The Farm, it would be understandable if the Great Blue Heron crew wished to rest for a bit… but they had other plans in mind!
Specifically, throwing a Labor Day Weekend party with BoomBox.
“Presenting music is our favorite thing to do for our community. It’s wonderful to see people dancing and enjoying the great outdoors all at the same time!” says Heron founder Julie Rockcastle.
Dance and enjoy the outdoors they will!
Electronic rock duo BoomBox, consisting of brothers Zion Rock Godchaux and Kinsman MacKay bring heavy organic grooves and soulful beats that penetrate through the dancefloor, and onto all facets of the human experience.
Basically, BoomBox throws a dance party at every performance.
As for enjoying the great outdoors, there are few better places to do that than at The Heron Farm in Sherman, NY. While this is a single-night event, and many guests may treat it as such, there are also several different camping add-ons available for those who prefer to spend a weekend in nature, with an epic dance party capping it off!
The Heron Farms’ own Heron Keg Room will be serving local craft beer, wine slushies, hard cider from the Finger Lakes region of NY, and a variety of NA beverages. The Taste of Heron Kitchen crew will be offering dinner options, for both vegetarians and carnivores and delicious snacks to fuel everyone up for the evening.
BoomBox will be joined by Buffalo, NY artist Ellen Pieroni and The Encyclopedia of Soul, a sax-led funk party that will get the crowd ready for an epic BoomBox throwdown.
Tickets are on sale NOW for BoomBox – September 3 at the Heron Farm and Event Center in Sherman, NY.
ABOUT BOOMBOX:
Electronic rock duo BoomBox, consisting of brothers Zion Rock Godchaux and Kinsman MacKay bring heavy organic grooves and soulful beats that penetrate through the dancefloor, and on to all facets of the human experience.
Founded in Muscle Shoals, AL in 2004 by singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Zion Rock Godchaux, BoomBox has grown and evolved alongside loyal fans across the globe. At the same time, the San Francisco Bay Area native stays true to the vibrations that have been moving bodies on the dancefloor since the beginning.
BoomBox has a signature type of groove rooted in a back-beat driven style, wrapped around smooth vocals and original lyrics. BoomBox songs also pull from a wide range of genres to cultivate a fusion of music that appeals to a broad audience. “The sound is about pulling from anything that you’d hear coming out of a boombox, and distilling into a distinctive style,” explains Godchaux. It’s this formula that gives BoomBox the unique ability to connect with any crowd regardless of age or origin.
“There’s a special kind of chemistry between two brothers playing music together,” says Godchaux. BoomBox shows are characterized by a mixture of drum machines and live-mixed computer beats laid down by Mackay, which create the foundation for Godchaux’s electric guitar riffs and soulful vocals to layer on top of.
In addition to touring with their live sets, the duo can also be found dropping down and dirty DJ sets at special club and festival appearances. Regardless of which form of BoomBox you may encounter, be prepared to be getting down like there’s no tomorrow.
