2023 Grammy Nominees for Best Bluegrass Album

We’re coming up on award season, and while we admittedly don’t typically care much for these types of things (the exception, of course, being the prestigious Festy Awards), we do take interest in some of the categories.

Of course, we are anxiously awaiting to see what award Doja Cat and Jay-Z will take home, and we absolutely can’t wait to see Taylor Swift and her skinny white girl posse getting down to Beyonce.

But, closer to home, we are thrilled to see the 2023 nominees for Best Bluegrass Album.

The Recording Academy quantifies this as an award “for albums containing greater than 50% playing time of new vocal or instrumental bluegrass recordings.”  Luckily, Del McCoury cut that beat-box track from the new album.

So, here are your nominees for the 2023 Best Bluegrass Album:

Toward The Fray
The Infamous Stringdusters

Almost Proud
The Del McCoury Band

Calling You From My Mountain
Peter Rowan

Crooked Tree
Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway

Get Yourself Outside
Yonder Mountain String Band

In addition, Molly Tuttle is up for Best New Artist!  That’s not for bluegrass – that’s overall! She’s up against Wet Leg, Tobe Nwigwe, and Måneskin, among others that we haven’t heard of.  We’re pulling for you, Molly!

We couldn’t be more proud of each of these artists, almost all of whom we’ve seen live in the past year.  We are continuously blown away by their talent, and couldn’t think of a better crew to represent the genre!

The 2023 GRAMMYs, officially known as the 65th GRAMMY Awards, will air live on Sunday, Feb. 5, from Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, and it will broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ at 8-11:30 p.m. ET / 5-8:30 p.m. PT+. The special ceremony’s broadcast time, hosts, presenters, and performers will be announced soon.
